Communication skills and media training – Basic

The basic course for communications skills and media training successfully completed in the public affairs regional centre.

The basics of communications skills, the development of excellent key messages to the public, the role of the media in society, as well as the types of interviews were part of the elements elaborated in the communications skills and media training course that was successfully completed on 21st of September 2013 in the Public Affairs Regional Centre in the Ministry of Defence.

The course participants from the Republic of Macedonia, that is, from the Ministry of Defence, the Ministries of Interior and Foreign Affairs, the Army of the Republic of Macedonia and the Crisis Management Centre, as well as from the Armed forces of Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Kosovo Security Forces, were introduced both in theory and practice with everything connected with the function of the spokesperson and the relevant aspects related to the work of the public affairs sections.

In addition, part of the course lecturers included Simone De Manso, NATO public relations officer, who talked about media and society and Roy Thorvaldsen, Chief of Public Affairs at NATO in the Allied Command Transformation in Norfolk, Virginia, who focused on the principles of work of the Alliance in the area of public affairs.

The Ministry of Defence, through its Public Affairs Regional Centre, which is part of the network of 26 Partnership Training and Education Centres, has been contributing in continuity to the development and promotion of the level of transparency and openness, as a precondition for further growth of mutual confidence.
