The rising interest in Crisis Communication training has made PARC once again in the focus of the current and future Public Affairs practitioners from ten NATO and partner countries. In the period from 13-17 May, participants from Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Croatia, Hungary, Kuwait, North Macedonia, The Netherlands and The United Kingdom had the unique opportunity to learn, share experience practice and enhance their communication skills and techniques for dealing with the Media in Crisis as part of the PARC’s annual International Course “Crisis Communication 2019”.
Engagement of the highly experienced and professional guest lecturers, such as the former PA officer in NATO ACT, Mr. Roy Thorvaldsen, Social Media Expert, Mr.David Bailey, Col Dr. Sc. Mitko Bogdanoski as well as of the certified media trainers from Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina added a great value to the quality of the course.
The practical exercises provided the participants with necessary experience for dealing with the media during a crisis and additionally raised awareness on the importance of having trained and skilled communicators in times of crisis.
Crisis communication skills are a must for the successful performance of any Public Affairs Officer in dealing with crises and proved to be an essential instrument in every crisis management tool-box. Although today’s crises vary in nature and complexity (natural disasters, organizational dysfunctions, economical breakdowns, military conflicts, migrant crises, terrorism e.tc), they all demand skilled and well trained Crisis Communicators.
The feedback from participants which was more than positive gives us an additional strength and motivation to keep up the pace with the latest PA developments and requirements and to even further enhance the courses curriculum that will fit the needs of both, military and civilian target audience.
Upon completion of the course all participants were awarded with Certificates from the Public Affairs Regional Centre (PARC).
