Crisis Communication - A way to cope with emerging crisis and conflicts.
Going through one of the biggest global crisis in recent history caused by COVID-19 pandemics reconfirms the importance of conducting the effective crisis communication for the overall success of the crisis management process.
From the Public Affairs Officer’s perspective, learning how to work with the media in crisis situations was the main goal of the online “Crisis Communication Course” (NATO certified), held from 07-11 June 2021 in organization of the Public Affairs Regional Centre (PARC).
During the course participants from 5 NATO and partner countries had the opportunity to get in depth familiarization with the way of how NATO organizes and conducts crisis communication within the crisis management, as well as to understand the principles of NATO Media operations during crisis.
Furthermore, the course provided the participants with the necessary knowledge and skills related to the importance of Social Media in crisis situations and how to use the social media platforms for disseminating punctual and fact based information to the target audiences. Moreover, debunking disinformation and tackling fake news in crisis was also in focus of the course.
In addition, PARCs certified media trainers organized online practical exercises based on a realistic crisis scenarios aimed at increasing the practical skills of the participants in giving TV Interviews and TV statements.
Upon completion of the course, participants were awarded with certificate for attendance.
