The second Basic Public Affairs Course open for all NATO, PfP, MD, ICI and partners across the globe took place from 15th to 19th of September 2014 in the Public Affairs Regional Centre (PARC) in Skopje.
The 18 participants from several PfP countries and from other state institutions were familiarized with the NATO Public Affairs Policy and Doctrine. Basic Public Affairs Course II was also marked by the first participation from Ukraine and Armenia, thus further expanding PARC's contribution in providing basic public affairs training to personnel from NATO partner countries.
„This course is the best one I have ever been, we had an opportunity to receive valuable knowledge about how NATO is dealing with public affairs“ - said Major Karen Petrosyan from Armenia.
„Very experienced lecturers from high NATO structures, excellent media trainers, and the opportunity to be in front of the camera, like in a real life situation, will help me in my daily work and it will stay in my memory forever“ - said Ms. Maryna Naumenko, the participant from Ukraine.
This course was a perfect opportunity for establishing cooperation between PARC and Joint Media Operations Centre of the Royal British Army, and the first step of this cooperation was exchange of experts in the area of Public Affairs. Moreover, Captain Peter Singlehurst from JMOC shared with the participants personal experience related to United Kingdom Armed Forces Media Operations.
In addition to the guest lecturer from the Royal British Army, the participants had a chance to receive valuable information from very experienced experts in the PA area: Mr. Roy Thorvaldsen, Chief of the Public Affairs Office of the NATO Allied Command Transformations, Ms. Simone de Manso, Press Officer in the Public Diplomacy Division in the NATO HQ, and Major Lazar Gjurov, PhD, Military Academy "Mihailo Apostolski", Republic of Macedonia.
