The international Basic Public Affairs Course was conducted in the period from 20 to 25 April 2015 in the Public Affairs Regional Centre in Skopje.
The participants from the Republic of Albania, Republic of Croatia, the Republic of Kosovo, Ukraine, Republic of Greece, the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Macedonia as well as from the Macedonian governmental institutions had the opportunity to be familiarized with the NATO Public Affairs Policy, to learn the basic communication skills for effective communication and above all to get practical experience in dealing with the media.
Building trust and promoting the principles of NATO Public Affairs Policy and Doctrine within this multinational audience was of immense importance for better understanding of the necessity to communicate truthfully, timely and accurately with the public and to obtain and maintain credibility in the scope of the respective countries.
The focus of the theoretical part and the productive discussions during the course was on the importance of building and maintaining credibility in the profession of Public Affairs as the most significant element of the communication of institutions with the public, through the media.
Distinguished guest lecturer on the course was Francesco Veltri, Former NATO PAO, who shared his experience in the field of Public Affairs from the perspective of this profession based on the principles of NATO Public Affairs Policy and Doctrine.
