Continuous development of NATO Public Affairs capacities

In the period from 13-24 March 2023, the Public Affairs Regional Centre is conducting the Basic Public Affairs Course as part of its annual program of international activities. At the opening ceremony, the State Secretary in the Ministry of Defense, Vladimir Anchev, stressed the importance of continuous development of the Public Affairs capacities within the Alliance.

"The importance of the development of this area is even more visible today, when we are constantly dealing with disinformation campaigns whose sole purpose is to introduce uncertainty, mistrust and despair into our societies," emphasized Anchev.

Moreover, he added that what makes PARC even more recognizable, besides the fact that participants acquire theoretical knowledge delivered by eminent NATO Subject Matter experts, is the opportunity to practically apply the acquired knowledge and to use it upon completion of the course in their further engagement as Public Affairs officers.

"I encourage you to take advantage of all the benefits that this Center offers during this two-week NATO selected course, and then I am confident that you will spread the word of PARC," said State Secretary Anchev.

The Basic Public Affairs Course is attended by representatives from Romania, Poland, Slovenia, Lithuania, Kosovo and members of the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia. The main goal of the course is to familiarize the participants with the basics of NATO Public Affairs, the ways of communication, the use of most effective tools for dealing with the media, building trust with media representatives. Participants will also have the opportunity to visit one of the Macedonian TV station and to get in depth the process of creating news.
